Children’s Reading Alliance is a citizens-led grassroots non-profit organization that engages families and the community in promoting children’s literacy. Our signature program is First Teacher, a bilingual parent education program designed to increase opportunities at home to develop basic skills that promote learning and success in school. We are a team oriented volunteer organization that collaborates with many other community groups. We are recruiting for the following position:

Programs Manager

Part time paid position. Reports to the Board. Manages volunteers and on-call employees to provide First Teacher classes in locations throughout Dona Ana County. Provides fund raising and grant writing expertise to the organization. Manages grants including reporting to granting organizations in a timely manner. Works with the board to develop, coordinate, and implement marketing and public relations strategies and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Strong management and grant writing skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with people of all socioeconomic groups
  • Availability for evenings and weekends
  • A valid NM driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish (preferred)
  • Minimum educational level of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
  • The position is subject to drug and alcohol testing and background checks.
