My Mother read The Odyssey to me before I entered the first grade; thus began my love affair with learning, books and travel. Incredible parents and that background motivated me to get three degrees– a BA and MA from Western New Mexico University and an MPA from Baruch College, CUNY. Those degrees opened doors of opportunity that I had only imagined. I retired from NMSU where I created and directed ENLACE, a program designed to prepare Latino students and their families for success in secondary and higher education environments. My passion is the education and success of Latino students. AND it all began with a classic.
