CRF of Doña Ana County in the Schools

CRF supports the reading programs in several Las Cruces elementary schools.  Volunteers (contact Jan Reed jgreed31@msn.com) support second grade teachers at Mesilla Park, Conlee, Valley View and Central Elementary Schools in different ways.  Coordinated by Janet Jacquess at Mesilla Park and by Jan Reed at Central Elementary, the tutors listen to children read graded books to develop fluency.  At Conlee, the volunteers help children work on needed reading skills identified by the classroom teacher.  Mayfield High School volunteer honor students read and discuss books donated by the Kiwanis Club that support the second grade Core Curriculum subjects.
